ISTANBUL (AA) - Golden Globe-winning American actress Sally Kirkland has died at the age of 84, her representative Michael Greene confirmed Tuesday.
Kirkland died in a hospice in Palm Springs, California after battling health challenges, including dementia and multiple injuries from falls over the past year, Greene told TMZ, a US entertainment-focused outlet.
She was highly regarded for her leading role in the 1987 independent film Anna, which earned her a Golden Globe win and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Kirkland's extensive career spanned over 250 film and television appearances, with notable roles in movies such as JFK and Bruce Almighty, as well as TV series like Days of Our Lives.
Earlier this year, a public fundraiser was launched to help the actress manage her significant medical costs.
