ATHENS (AA) – Greece will follow the EU’s lead when it comes to deciding about joining US President Donald Trump’s "Board of Peace," said Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on Wednesday night.
In an interview with private broadcaster Action 24, Gerapetritis said: “The reality is that the Board of Peace, which was proposed by President Trump, has a specific structure, legal characteristics, which need to be further explored.”
When asked whether Athens will join it, which many European countries think will take over the UN, he replied that Greece will follow the EU’s lead.
Noting that Greece was among the limited number of European countries that were invited by Trump to join the board, he argued that the board seems to have a permanent characteristic and aims to address all possible conflicts in the world, not only the one in Gaza, as it was originally devised.
At this moment, it appears that the EU will not join the Board of Peace, he said.
