ATHENS (AA) - The Greek Supreme Court blocked Ilias Kasidiaris, an imprisoned lawmaker from the outlawed far-right Golden Dawn party, from running in general elections on June 25, local media reported on Thursday.

The court also unanimously decided that 12 of the 44 parties and election coalitions which submitted applications to contest the elections are not eligible to do so, according to the state-run AMNA news agency.

Kasidiaris, who has been convicted for his role in the Golden Dawn party and is serving his sentence, participated in the Greeks for the Homeland and Freedom alliance and had declared that he would be a candidate for parliament from the Athens A electoral district.

On May 2, the court blocked the far-right National Party-Greeks founded by Kasidiaris from participating in the May 21 general elections.
