Greek helicopter crashes in the Aegean

Both pilots survive the crash, but are taken to hospital; causes of crash unknown

ATHENS (AA)- A Greek Army Apache helicopter crashed into the Aegean on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. (0600GMT), according to local media reports.

The AH-64D helicopter crashed for reasons unknown in the waters of the Strimonikos Gulf east of Halkidiki in northern Greece during a military exercise.

The two pilots are safe but have been taken to Thessaloniki General Military Hospital for safety reasons.

The causes of the accident are still being investigated.
