GAZA CITY, Palestine /ISTANBUL (AA) - The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced Saturday that its fighters killed and wounded Israeli soldiers during clashes in the Shejaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City on May 12.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the brigades said its fighters “engaged in direct gunfire with an Israeli force that had taken shelter inside a house on Al-Nazzaz Street in eastern Shejaiya.”
“Our fighters were able to confirm the killing and wounding of two soldiers from the targeted force,” the statement added.
As of 1615GMT, the Israeli army had not issued a response to the Al-Qassam Brigades report.
Since March 2, Israel has barred all supplies, including food, water and medicine from entering Gaza.
Israel also abandoned the ceasefire and resumed bombarding Gaza on March 18. The death toll since October 2023, when the war began, has crossed 53,200.
