ANKARA (AA) - Authorities suspended bullet train service in western Japan after heavy rains lashed the region on Sunday, inundating roads and tracks.

Services were halted between Hiroshima and Hakata stations on the Sanyo Shinkansen bullet train, the Tokyo-based Kyodo news agency reported citing West Japan Railway Co.

The country’s meteorological agency has warned of flooding and landslides in Yamaguchi and adjoining prefectures, with heavy precipitation expected from western and eastern regions through early next week.
