ISTANBUL (AA) - Hong Kong police on Thursday detained a passenger for trying to open an aircraft door mid-flight on a journey from Boston to the city.
A Hong Kong police spokesperson told NBC News on Friday that the 20-year-old Chinese passport holder, identified only by his surname Zhang, allegedly tried to open a Cathay Pacific aircraft door and was subsequently reported to authorities.
Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flagship airline, said its cabin crew “immediately attended to the situation” and checked that the door was secure, adding that the incident was reported to authorities and police.
The airline said no passengers or crew were injured and the flight landed safely, adding that the case has been turned over to police for investigation.
