ISTANBUL (AA) - House sales in Türkiye soared 56.6% on an annual basis in April, the country’s statistical bureau TurkStat said Friday.
A total of 118,359 houses were sold in Türkiye in April.
Istanbul took the lion's share with sales of 18,645 units, followed by the capital Ankara with 10,889, and the Aegean city of Izmir with 7,014.
Foreigners bought 1,440 houses in Türkiye last month, up 13.2% year-on-year.
In April, most house sales by nationality were made to citizens of Russia, Iran, and Ukraine.
Mortgage sales jumped 147% on an annual basis in April to 17,465, accounting for 14.8% of all house sales.
Sales of new houses rose 43.8% in April to reach 34,633, while second-hand sales grew 62.6% year-on-year to 83,726.
During January-April, house sales totaled 454,145 units, up 27.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
