Indonesia has deployed the second batch of its military health personnel to Egypt to treat Palestinians from Gaza, state-run media reported on Tuesday.
A group of 25 Indonesian military health personnel departed on a humanitarian mission to treat Gazans on a UAE-owned hospital ship at El Arish Port, Egypt, according to Antara news agency.
They are expected to join their duty starting Wednesday.
The first batch of 25 health personnel returned to Indonesia on Dec. 8.
"This is a state task, not just an individual or unit task. Your tasks as TNI (Indonesian Defense Forces) soldiers are quite large," Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said during his meeting with defense health personnel.
"You are ambassadors of peace and humanity. Your presence brings the good name of this country," the minister added.
From the first batch, 10 health personnel managed to enter Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, and served at the UAE field hospital as of Sept. 7, 2024, according to the news agency.
El Arish is one of the meeting points for aid from various countries for the Palestinians.
