YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia (AA) - Mount Merapi, located on the borders of Indonesia's Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces, erupted on Sunday, officials said.
The mountain unleashed a cloud of ashes, and lava flowed down its slopes.
Noise from the volcano could be heard from a few kilometers away.
In 2010, 347 people died when lava spewed out of Mount Merapi, which towers 2,968 meters (9,738 feet) on the island of Java.
