Since foiled coup, 19 civilians were killed, 85 security forces martyred, and more than 600 people wounded in PKK attacks

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) - PKK terrorist attacks have increased in Turkey, especially in the east and southeast, in the wake of the July 15 defeated coup that left 240 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

According to figures compiled by Anadolu Agency, in attacks since the foiled coup, a total of 19 civilians have been killed, including women and children; 85 members of the security forces have been martyred, including 39 police and 37 soldiers; and more than 600 people have been wounded, including civilians, police officers, and soldiers.

Some of those injured by PKK attacks are still receiving treatment and struggling to survive in various hospitals.

PKK attacks using car and truck bombs and other weapons on civilians and security forces are being firmly condemned by the people, especially those living in southeastern Turkey.

In chronological order, here are some of the terror attacks that followed the coup attempt in various provinces of Turkey:

On July 19, a women and her daughter were killed in a homemade explosives attack by PKK terrorists in the Nusaybin district of Turkey's Mardin province.

On July 20, a village guard was martyred and four others were injured when PKK terrorists detonated homemade explosives in the Sirvan district of Turkey’s southeastern Siirt province.

On July 25, three police officers were martyred in a PKK roadside bomb attack in the Derik district of Turkey's southeastern Mardin province.

On July 27, three soldiers were martyred in a PKK roadside bomb attack in the southeastern province of Siirt.

On Aug. 8, a truck driver was killed by a PKK roadside bomb in the Semdinli district of Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province.

On Aug. 10, five civilians from the same family were killed and 12 people were wounded, including five soldiers, by a bomb-laden vehicle attack in the Sur district of the southeastern Diyarbakir province.

On Aug. 13, Naci Adiyaman, a member of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party, was found dead after being reported kidnapped by PKK terrorists in the Beytussebap district in the province of Sirnak.

On Aug. 15, one child, five police officers, and two civilians were martyred, and 45 people – including seven police officers – were wounded in a PKK car-bomb attack on a traffic police station in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

On Aug. 17, two civilians were killed and two police officers were martyred when PKK terrorists detonated a bomb-wired vehicle near a police station in the Ipekyolu district in the eastern city of Van.

On Aug. 18, three police officers were martyred and 217 others, including civilians, were wounded when PKK terrorists detonated a bomb-wired vehicle on a police station in eastern Turkey's Elazig province.

- Three soldiers and a village guard were martyred and seven soldiers wounded in a PKK terrorist attack in the Hizan district of the eastern Bitlis province.

On Aug. 21, a police officer was martyred and three other officers were wounded when an explosive device targeted an armored police vehicle in the Viransehir district of the southeastern Sanliurfa province.

On Aug. 22, a soldier was martyred and three police officers were seriously injured in clashes with PKK terrorists in the town of Nazimiye in the eastern province of Tunceli.

On Aug. 23, a soldier was wounded in a PKK terrorist attack on a gendarmerie station in the town of Catak in Turkey’s eastern Van province

- A soldier and two village guards were martyred and one village guard was wounded in a PKK terrorist attack in the village of Ortacanak in the eastern province of Bingol.

- A police officer was wounded in a PKK terrorist attack in the Yuksekova district of the Hakkari province.

On Aug. 24, five soldiers were martyred and one was wounded in an armed attack by PKK terrorists in the Lice district of the Diyarbakir province.

On Aug. 25, a soldier was martyred and two others were wounded when Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu's motorcade came under attack by terrorists in the Black Sea province of Artvin.

On Aug. 26, a total of 11 police officers were martyred and 78 people wounded when PKK terrorists detonated a truck bomb near a security checkpoint in the Cizre district of the southeastern Turkish province of Sirnak.
