ISTANBUL (AA) – Afghanistan’s interim Foreign Ministry on Saturday said that consular services will resume next week at the country’s embassy in Oslo.
“Afghan nationals residing in Norway, as well as other clients, are hereby notified that the Embassy of Afghanistan in Oslo will recommence consular services starting March 24, 2025,” said an interim Foreign Ministry statement.
The ministry also stated that they consider the development "a positive" one.
This came after acting Afghan Ambassador to China Bilal Karimi met last month with Norway's special representative for Afghanistan Paul Klouman Bekken.
The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, but no UN member states have recognized the interim administration.
In September 2023, China was the first country to appoint a new ambassador to Afghanistan. The UAE became the second country last year after China to accept the credentials of the Afghan ambassadors.
