TEHRAN (AA) – Iranian security forces on Saturday detained eight people in connection with Wednesday's twin terrorist attacks on parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini.
The suspects were detained in Alborz province, north of Tehran, Ahmed Fazelian, a spokesman for the province's prosecution, told the official IRNA news agency.
He said the arrests are part of investigations into the deadly attacks.
With Saturday's arrests, the number of suspects rounded up in the wake of the attacks rose to 49.
On Friday, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence said they had arrested 41 people for suspected links to the Daesh terrorist group.
At least 22 people were killed and scores injured Wednesday in a twin attack claimed by Daesh on the parliament building and the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic.
