ISTANBUL (AA) - Floods have killed at least 35 people in northwestern Iran, an official from the country’s disaster authority said on Saturday.
Iranian rescue teams are still searching for eight people who were caught in a flash flood in the northwestern provinces, the chairman of the National Disaster Management Organization, Esma’eel Najjar told the Iranian Students' News Agency.
Najjar said torrential rains hit East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Kordestan and Zanjan provinces.
The local authorities have declared a day of mourning in the area.
