TEHRAN / ISTANBUL (AA) – Iran on Tuesday estimated damage from Israeli attacks on residential buildings at around four billion tomans ($46 million).
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Majid Javad, the deputy head of Iran’s Housing Foundation, said around 400,000 buildings have been damaged.
“The damage ranges from partial to complete destruction,” he said, estimating the damage at 3-4 trillion tomans ($46 million).
Last month, Gholamreza Salehi, the head of the Housing Foundation, said that the capital, Tehran, and Tabriz in central Iran were the most affected cities by the Israeli assault.
A 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran erupted on June 13, when Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian sites, killing at least 935 people. The Iranian Health Ministry said 5,332 people were injured.
Tehran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes, killing at least 29 people and wounding more than 3,400, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The conflict ended with a US-sponsored ceasefire that took effect on June 24.
