ANKARA (AA) - The Iranian military on Friday conducted large-scale drills in the eastern Isfahan province, state television has reported.
Thousands of military personnel are reportedly taking part in the “Eghtedar 97” exercises, which are being conducted in Isfahan’s city of Nasrabad.
“Some 12,000 troops will practice new offensive tactics in line with recent structural changes to our ground forces,” Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency quoted Kiumars Heidari, commander of Iran’s Army Ground Forces, as saying Thursday.
The drills, Heidari went on to assert, “will send a message to our enemies that the Iranian army is readier than ever to counter any aggression”.
