TEHRAN (AA) – A local commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was shot dead in southeastern Iran on Tuesday, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency.
Ruhollah Aali, a commander of battalion in Kurin district in southeastern Iran, was killed by two militants while on duty in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the agency said.
Security forces chased the attackers and shot them dead, it added.
In recent years, the IRGC has been tasked with ensuing security of Iran’s southeastern border areas in cooperation with the local residents.
