ANKARA (AA) - An Iranian court sentenced the brother of the nation's president Hassan Rouhani to prison for corruption, local media reported on Saturday.
Hamid Riza Houseini, a high official from Iran’s judiciary, told the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) that Hossein Fereydoun, also a former adviser to the president, was jailed for corruption and intervening in some important appointments and dismissals.
“I can’t give further detail about his prison term because the court hasn't finalized its decision yet,” he added.
Fereydoun was accused of financial violations on the grounds that he was involved in the payroll case of bank directors and involvement in the assignment of the manager of the Refah Bank.
