BAGHDAD (AA) - Hassan al-Mousawi, an Iraqi antique dealer, operates a museum-like shop filled with Ottoman-era artifacts, offering valuable insight into Iraq's rich cultural heritage.
A graduate of the Fine Arts Faculty's Painting Department, al-Mousawi runs his business in a market in the heart of Baghdad that has been operating since the 1950s, showcasing a wide array of historical items and objects.
He told Anadolu that the antiques he displays and offers for sale serve as a window into the culture of Baghdad and Iraq.
While showing a silver-embellished Ottoman-era ornamental antique, al-Mousawi remarked: "Those who want to preserve the country's culture and heritage come here to explore and purchase antiques. This place reflects a history spanning from the Ottoman era to the British period, the Kingdom, and the Republic."
Al-Mousawi also noted that people from foreign countries visit his shop, which doubles as a museum-like space, and shared that his passion for antiquing has positively impacted his household's economy.
