HATAY (AA) - An irregular migrant living in Turkey's southern Hatay province on Tuesday lost her life after falling into a steam, a security official said.

The migrant entered Turkey through illegal means and her identity has yet to be ascertained, said the official, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

According to the official, she was attempting to cross Seferli Stream but got caught by the stream flow and ended up drowning.

Gendarmerie forces and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority recovered the body after a four-hour long rescue operation.
