ISTANBUL (AA) - Israel has detained three Fiji soldiers for alleged drug smuggling, said a Fijian military commander.
Maj. Gen. Ro Jone Kalouniwai, the commander of the Fiji military, said the soldiers, serving under the UN observer force in the Golan Heights, were returning from leave in Jordan when they were detained at the border on Sunday, according to the daily Fiji Times.
He said they are “liaising” with the Israeli authorities on the issue, adding: “The Republic of Fiji Military Forces maintains a zero-tolerance stance on any criminal activities by its members.”
