ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army on Sunday evening said it detected missile launches from Iran toward Israel.

“A short while ago, missile launches from Iran toward Israeli territory were detected,” the army said in a statement, adding that air defense systems are working to intercept the missiles.

The army also urged residents to “enter protected areas immediately upon receiving an alert and remain there until further notice.”

The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said the Iranian attack hit northern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv.

According to initial reports, the newspaper said, a direct hit was witnessed on a house in southern Israel.

Israel launched strikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, on Friday, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes within hours. The attacks have continued since then.

Iranian Health Ministry said 128 people were killed and 900 others were injured since the Israeli attacks started on Friday.

Israeli authorities, meanwhile, said 13 people were killed and more than 370 others injured in Iranian missile attacks.
