JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after gunfire from the Palestinian territory.
A military statement said the strike targeted a position belonging to Palestinian group Hamas in northern Gaza Strip.
The army said the attack came after a bullet was fired from the territory and hit an industrial building in southern Israel earlier Tuesday.
No injuries were reported in the Israeli air strike.
Israeli mounted 11 days of bombardment on the Gaza Strip in May of last year, in which more than 260 Palestinians were killed and thousands injured. Thirteen Israelis were also killed from Palestinian fire during the course of the conflict.
The violence, the worst between the two sides in years, came to a halt under an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.
