RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – The Israeli army on Tuesday handed over the body of a Palestinian woman killed a year ago to her relatives.
Mai Afana, 27, a mother of a 6-year-old child, was shot dead by Israeli forces in East Jerusalem last year for allegedly attempting to stab Israeli forces.
The Israeli military withheld her body ever since until it decided on Monday to hand over her to her relatives.
Her body was handed over by the army on Tuesday to teams from the Palestinian Civil Affairs Ministry and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society at an Israeli checkpoint in East Jerusalem, Anadolu Agency learned.
According to Palestinian figures, since 2015 Israeli authorities have held the bodies of over 100 killed Palestinians.
