Israeli army launches new airstrike in Gaza, in latest violation of ceasefire deal

Attack came one day after more than 100 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Israeli army launched a new airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, in the latest violation of a fragile ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

A military statement claimed that the strike targeted infrastructure where weapons and aerial means were allegedly stored in Beit Lahia city.

The army said that it will continue to operate to remove any threat to its forces.

The new attack came after more than 100 Palestinians were killed in a series of deadly Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Tuesday.

Hamas held Israel fully responsible for the escalation in Gaza, though it reiterated its full commitment to the ceasefire agreement. The Palestinian group called on mediators and guarantors to assume their responsibilities and exert immediate pressure on Israel to stop its “massacres” against Palestinians.

Israel has killed more than 68,600 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,000 others in deadly attacks in Gaza since October 2023.

The destructive war came to a halt under a ceasefire deal that took effect on Oct. 10 under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan.
