ISTANBUL (AA) – The Israeli army staged a new incursion into several villages in the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria on Monday, in the latest violation of the country’s sovereignty.

A patrol consisting of four military vehicles and two tanks moved into the villages of Al-Ajraf and Al-Mushayrifa, searching and besieging several homes in the area, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

Another Israeli convoy, made up of seven military vehicles and two tanks, raided the village of Umm Batna and surrounded a house west of the village, the outlet said.

In recent months, the Israeli army has staged several cross-border raids into Syria’s southern provinces, including Quneitra, despite international calls for halting violations of Syria’s sovereignty.

After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, a move that violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.
