Police say evidence found against Sara Netanyahu in scandal over expenses

JERUSALEM (AA) – An Israeli police investigation into expenses at the prime minister’s residence found evidence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Israeli media reported Sunday.

The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted an Israeli police official as saying that the investigation, which began in February, found evidence against Sara Netanyahu, a member of the prime minister’s office and an electrician.

The newspaper reported that the findings had been handed over to the Jerusalem District Attorney-General, who will decide on whether to open a case.

The Netanyahus said in a statement that there was no indication from the police findings that Sara Netanyahu will be prosecuted. The investigation came after a state report in February suggested she had used public money for private expenses.
