CHANDIGARH, India (AA) – Israeli President Reuven Rivlin arrived in Mumbai on Monday morning at the beginning of a six-day visit to India.

According to India's foreign ministry, the two countries will sign cooperation agreements and Rivlin will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"This visit is a sign of the strong relations and friendship between our peoples, and I hope will plant the seeds for that friendship to grow closer and closer,” said Rivlin in a statement released by his office before his visit.

Rivlin's visit followed his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Israel last year, the first of an Indian leader since the countries established full relations in 1992.

Their relationship has grown since then, especially under Modi's government, and India has become the biggest buyer of Israeli military exports.
