ISTANBUL (AA) - An Israeli soldier was killed by an RPG anti-tank weapon in Gaza City, local media reported on Tuesday.
The Times of Israel, citing an army investigation, said that an Israeli officer was injured when a Hamas operative fired an RPG at an Israeli tank.
He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
In a military statement, the army confirmed the death of 27-year-old Shahar Netanel Bozagli, without giving further details.
He is the first soldier killed in Gaza City after the army launched a ground offensive under the Operation Gideon Chariots 2 last week, the Times of Israel said.
The latest fatality brought the number of Israeli soldiers killed in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 to 911, according to military data.
