JERUSALEM/ISTANBUL (AA) – The Israeli army said Wednesday that one of its soldiers was seriously injured in clashes with Palestinian fighters in the northern Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the army said the soldier from the Givati Reconnaissance Unit was injured during morning fighting and was later evacuated to a hospital inside Israel.
The army said the number of injured soldiers since the start of the war on Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 6,274, including 2,919 injured in ground operations in Gaza since they began on Oct. 27.
It also reported that 911 of its personnel have been killed since the start of the war, 465 of them during the ground offensive.
The Israeli army has continued a brutal offensive on Gaza, killing more than 65,300 Palestinians since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
