ISTANBUL (AA) – Japan on Friday imposed fresh sanctions on Russia over its war on Ukraine which will complete its three years next month.
Tokyo froze the assets of dozens of individuals and entities, as well as imposed export bans, according to a Japanese Foreign Ministry statement.
A total of 33 organizations and 12 individuals, including one North Korean and 11 Russian nationals, have been added to Japan's asset freeze list which will take effect on Feb. 9.
Additionally, 53 organizations from countries including Russia and China are now subject to export bans.
Japan will prohibit the export of 335 additional items to Russia, including small motorcycles and components for special-purpose vehicles like cranes, starting Jan. 23.
Tokyo has imposed sanctions on more than 1,000 individuals and over 180 entities over Russia’s war on Ukraine which will complete its three years next year.
Thousands of civilians and combatants have been killed while millions of people across the Ukraine-Russia border have been displaced since Feb. 2022.
