AMMAN (AA) - State-employed medical personnel staged a two-hour strike on Tuesday to demand better administrative and financial conditions.
The strike lasted for two hours, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm local time, at all state-run hospitals and medical facilities.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, strike organizer Dr. Bilal al-Azzam described the number of medical personnel who took part in the two-hour strike as “very high” but refrained from providing an exact number.
“Doctors have resorted to taking this step after earlier talks with officials failed to bear fruit,” al-Azzam said.
He did not rule out the possibility of further escalations if the government failed to respond to strikers’ grievances.
