ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish modular construction company Karmod has delivered containerized site facilities to an oil field in Tunisia, expanding its footprint in North Africa as energy producers in the region continue to invest in long-term field operations.

The company said it completed the installation of 504 square meters of container units that will be used as offices at the oil extraction site. The project includes workspaces as well as restroom and shower units.

The structures were manufactured using a fully demountable, weld-free assembly system and shipped by sea before being transported from the port to the oil field, the company said.

Karmod Container Export Manager Muzaffer Dogrul Erguclu said the company is pursuing additional mobilization projects across North Africa, including in Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.

Oil and gas sites increasingly favor container-based facilities because of their durability and ease of deployment, Erguclu said, adding that Karmod’s units are designed for nearly 30 years of use in demanding field conditions.

The fully demountable design also allows the structures to be shipped efficiently to overseas markets, he said.
