Kayserispor eliminate Trabzonspor to reach 2022 Turkish Cup final

Yukatel Kayserispor beat Trabzonspor 4-2 in semifinal 2nd leg at home

ANKARA (AA) - Yukatel Kayserispor qualified Tuesday for the 2022 Ziraat Turkish Cup final for the first time since 2008.

The home team of the semifinal's second leg beat Trabzonspor 4-2 at Buyuksehir Belediyesi Kadir Has Stadium and won 4-3 on aggregate.

Trabzonspor drew first blood as Anthony Nwakaeme converted an early penalty kick successfully after Lionel Carole handballed in the box.

The visitors led the first half 1-0.

Kayserispor winger Emrah Bassan scored a solo effort goal in the area to level the match at 1-1 in the 48th minute.

Eleven minutes later, Kayserispor came back as Iranian defender Majid Hosseini unleashed a right-footed shot to beat Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Trabzonspor equalized in the 82nd minute when Greek midfielder Anastasios Bakasetas fired a low shot to put the ball into the net.

Kayserispor took the lead once again as Mame Thiam scored from the penalty spot in the 91st minute after his teammate Emrah was fouled in the area.

The aggregate score was 3-3 after Thiam scored.

Kayserispor reserved their place in the 2022 final after their Turkish player Emrah scored after dribbling the ball for a while.

The ball deflected a Trabzonspor player to misguide Ugurcan, making it 4-2.

It was the winning goal for Kayserispor as the team from central Turkiye reached the final in the Turkish Cup.

The 2008 champions, Kayserispor will face either Demir Grup Sivasspor or Aytemiz Alanyaspor in the final.

The Sivasspor vs. Alanyaspor match will be played Wednesday.

Sivasspor won the semifinal's first leg 2-1 in the Mediterranean province of Antalya.
