ISTANBUL (AA) – Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday met with Liu Jianchao, head of the Chinese Communist Party International Department, to discuss bilateral relations, according to the Kazakh presidential office.
Tokayev said the “Kazakh-Chinese eternal comprehensive strategic partnership is progressing positively and future-oriented.”
He added that the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping for June’s China-Central Asia summit will “open up new horizons of strategic partnership.”
The Kazakh leader reaffirmed his support for China’s global initiatives, saying they aim to build “a just world order based on the principles of international law and the UN Charter.”
He also confirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the “one China” policy.
Liu said China sees Kazakhstan as a key partner and is committed to strengthening their “eternal comprehensive partnership.”
They also discussed more cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.
