ISTANBUL (AA) – Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Jordan’s King Abdullah II joined a business forum in Astana during the king’s official visit, stressing new opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, energy, transport, medicine, and technology.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan has strong potential to supply Jordan with wheat, flour, and other organic, halal food products, according to the Kazakh presidency press service.
He welcomed a project by Jordan’s Aljazeera Agricultural company to build a poultry farm in Kazakhstan, calling it a “concrete step” in agribusiness cooperation.
Highlighting energy, Tokayev noted Kazakhstan’s role as the world’s top uranium producer and underlined agreements between Kazatomprom and Jordanian partners.
He also praised Jordan’s pharmaceutical sector, saying both countries will work on exporting vaccines through QazBioPharm and Jordan’s DADvet.
The president added that Kazakhstan is becoming a hub for transport, with 12 major international corridors, and offered to link Caspian Sea ports with Jordan’s Aqaba port.
On digital progress, he pointed to Kazakhstan’s new digital currency, artificial intelligence center, and supercomputer cluster, inviting Jordanian companies to join projects through the Astana Hub and Astana International Financial Center.
King Abdullah II thanked Kazakhstan for its hospitality and said the forum would help companies from both sides create joint ventures and investments.
“Let us work together to ensure that the initiatives outlined at this forum turn into concrete projects,” he said, inviting Kazakh firms to Jordan.
Kazakhstan and Jordan also cooperate in the Islamic Organization for Food Security, aiming to build a sustainable food system for Muslim countries. Both leaders expressed confidence that their countries will remain close partners and friends.
