Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan top diplomats discuss regional cooperation

Foreign ministers underline strategic partnership, review regional, international issues

ISTANBUL (AA) - Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu held a call Thursday with his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov, to discuss ties, regional cooperation and international developments, according to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The ministers confirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and alliance “in the spirit of friendship and good-neighborliness.”

They highlighted the importance of regional stability in Central Asia and exchanged views on international issues, including the situation in the Middle East.

Nurtleu and Saidov also reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at high-level meetings and discussed the schedule of events planned until the end of the year.

The two major Central Asian states have maintained close cooperation in recent years, focusing on trade, energy, transport and regional security.​​​​​​​
