ISTANBUL (AA) - Guinness World Records on Monday recognized Kenyan climate activist Truphena Muthoni for breaking her own world record by hugging a tree continuously for 72 hours.

In a statement, Guinness World Records said Muthoni, a “passionate environmental activist from Kenya,” sent a strong message about protecting the Earth by hugging a tree for three whole days.

“Truphena Muthoni has set the record for longest marathon hugging a tree with an unbelievable total of 72 hours,” it added.

Muthoni’s previous record was 48 hours, while the tree-hugging world record was first set in 2024 by Uganda’s Faith Patricia Ariokot with a time of 16 hours and 6 seconds.
