LONDON (AA) - King Charles will make his first foreign visit to France and Germany as monarch, Buckingham Palace said Friday.

"The King and The Queen Consort’s first State Visit of the new reign, to France and Germany, will take place from Sunday 26th March to Friday 31st March 2023," it said.

"The visit will celebrate Britain’s relationship with France and Germany, marking our shared histories, culture and values," it added.

"It will also provide an opportunity to look forward and demonstrate the many ways the UK is working in partnership with France and Germany, whether that be to tackle climate change; respond to the conflict in Ukraine; seize trade and investment opportunities or share the best of our arts and culture," the statement concluded.

Charles took the throne in September 2022 after the demise of his mother Queen Elizabeth.
