Leaders in top 5 European football leagues

After 3 wins, Arsenal lead Premier League; PSG beat Lille 7-1 in Ligue 1

ANKARA (AA) - After the latest games in the top five European football leagues, Arsenal, Villarreal, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are in the top positions in their respective leagues.


- English Premier League

Starting the week as the leaders and the reigning champions of the last two years, Manchester City, drew with Newcastle United 3-3.

Defeating Bournemouth 3-0, Arsenal now have three wins out of as many matches for the first time since the 2004-05 season, leading the English Premier League.

Leeds United got a surprising 3-0 victory against Chelsea, Tottenham defeated Wolverhampton 1-0, and Brighton beat West Ham United 2-0.

At the end of week 3, which will be concluded with the Manchester United-Liverpool match on Monday, Arsenal lead the table with 9 points, followed by Manchester City, Leeds United, Tottenham and Brighton with 7 points each.

- Spanish La Liga

Villarreal, who won 2-0 against Atletico Madrid, kept their lead in Spanish La Liga standings with six points and a goal difference.

The defending champions Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 4-1.

Barcelona won the away match against Real Sociedad 4-1. Celebrating his 34th birthday, Lewandowski scored twice in the game and marked his first-ever goal for the Catalan team.

Real Betis defeated Mallorca 2-1 and Osasuna beat Cadiz 2-0.

At the end of the second week, Villarreal are followed by Real Madrid, Real Betis and Osasuna, with all of them having six points each.

- Italian Serie A

Napoli took the top spot in the Italian Serie A with six points and a goal difference after a 4-0 home win against Monza.

Defending champions AC Milan drew 1-1 with Atalanta.

Inter Milan defeated Spezia 3-0 in front of their audience. Turkish national Hakan Calhanoglu scored the second goal for Inter.

As Roma will play against Cremonese and Sampdoria will face Juventus in week 3.

Leaders Napoli is followed by Inter, which also have six points, while AC Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Torino all lined up behind them with 4 points each.

- German Bundesliga

The reigning champions of the last 10 seasons, Bayern Munich, won 7-0 against Bochum and retained the top position.

Bayern Munich made history as they became the first club to score 15 goals in the first three Bundesliga games.

Borussia Dortmund, who hosted Werder Bremen, lost the game 2-3, conceding twice after the 90th-minute mark.

Borussia Monchengladbach defeated Hertha Berlin 1-0, Union Berlin beat Leipzig 2-1 and Mainz won against Augsburg with 2-1 score.

In week 3 of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have 9 points, followed by Monchengladbach, Union Berlin and Mainz with 7 points each.

- French Ligue 1

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) hammered Lille 7-1 in the 3rd week of the league.

Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the match, equaled the French Ligue 1 record by scoring a goal in the eighth second.

Lens defeated Monaco 4-1 and Olympic Marseille won at home against Nantes with a 2-1 score.

PSG maintained their lead with 9 points, followed by Lens and Olympic Marseille with 7 points each.
