BEIRUT, Lebanon (AA) - Turkey and Lebanon discussed transportation cooperation, including the reconstruction of the Beirut Port, media reports said Friday.
Lebanese Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ali Hamieh received Turkey’s Ambassador to Beirut Ali Baris Ulusoy, according to Lebanon’s official news agency NNA.
Current cooperation in land and sea transportation, particularly the route between Turkey’s southern port of Tasucu and Lebanon’s port of Tripoli was discussed in the meeting, said NNA.
What Turkish companies can do for the reconstruction of Beirut Port and railways in the country, which has been inactive since the 1975 - 1990 Lebanese civil war, was also reviewed.
Hamieh asked Turkey to provide equipment that would be used to scan goods arriving in Lebanon, added NNA.
