LeBron James ties Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most career NBA All-Star games

Lakers superstar selected to NBA All-Star Game for 19th time, matching Abdul-Jabbar's all-time mark

ISTANBUL (AA) - LeBron James earned his 19th All-Star selection tying the legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most career NBA All-Star Game appearances.

"James — the leading overall vote-getter — will be the captain of one of the teams for the Feb. 19 All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, while Eastern Conference voting leader Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks will captain the other side," NBA said in a statement.

James, the 38-year-old Lakers star, is also 157 points away from drawing level with Abdul-Jabbar's all-time NBA scoring record of 38,387 career points.

Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo and LA Lakers forward James will captain the NBA All-Star Game teams.

The 72nd NBA All-Star Game will be held at Vivint Arena, home of the Utah Jazz on Feb. 19.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets)

- Western Conference starters:

LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks)
