ANKARA (AA) - Leeds United beat Chelsea 3-0 in Sunday's English Premier League match to move to the second position, and end their almost 20-year hoodoo.

In the 33rd minute, US midfielder Brenden Aaronson gave a 1-0 lead to Leeds United at their home Elland Road.

After a back pass, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made a big mistake as he was unable to clear the ball on time. Aaronson tackled him and scored an open goal after Mendy's gift.

Spanish forward Rodrigo scored a header four minutes later to double the lead for Leeds United.

In the second half, English midfielder Jack Harrison made it 3-0 for Leeds United after a teamwork.

Chelsea's Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly was shown a red card after a foul in the 84th minute.

Leeds United secured the home win and ended their nearly two-decade-long Chelsea hoodoo. The Whites last beat the Blues in a league match at Elland Road on Dec. 28, 2002.

Leeds United climbed to the second spot with seven points in three matches.

Arsenal are leading the league as the Gunners won all their three games.

Mid-table Chelsea have four points.

In another match of the day, Brighton and Hove Albion beat West Ham United 2-0.
