Liverpool take over Premier League’s top spot, Leverkusen continue unbeaten Bundesliga run

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan keep their top spots in respective leagues

Matches in Europe's five major football leagues, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, English Premier League, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, continued over the weekend.

- Liverpool on the top

With English Premier League title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal drawing 0-0, Liverpool beat Brighton 2-1 with goals of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah to take the top spot.

Aston Villa beat Wolverhampton 2-0 and Tottenham came from behind to beat Luton Town 2-1.

In the Premier League week 30, Liverpool, with 67 points, took the lead, followed by Arsenal with 65, Manchester City 64, Aston Villa 59 and Tottenham 56 points.

- Leaders Real Madrid maintain 8-point difference with Barcelona

Spanish LaLiga leaders Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 with Rodrygo's goals to maintain their eight-point difference with Barcelona.

Barcelona continued their pursuit of the summit with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas at home.

Girona, the surprise contenders of the season, defeated Real Betis 3-2 at home.

After the match against Getafe-Sevilla was suspended for a short period of time due to racist remarks against Sevillian footballer Marcos Acuna, the referee of the match activated the protocol against racism in LaLiga.

In week 30, Real Madrid topped the table with 75 points, followed by Barcelona with 67 and Girona with 65.



- Unbeaten Bundesliga run for Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen, the unbeaten leaders of the German Bundesliga, won 2-1 with late goals from Robert Andrich and Patrik Schick at home against Hoffenheim.

With this result, Bayer Leverkusen, which has not lost in 39 matches this season, won their eighth consecutive Bundesliga match.

In a match dubbed Der Klassiker, Borussia Dortmund defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 and managed to beat their rival at away after 10 years.

Stuttgart drew 3-3 with Heidenheim at home.

Bayer Leverkusen, which rose to 73 points in week 27, increased the gap to their closest rival Bayern Munich to 13 points, while Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund followed them with 57 and 53 points, respectively.

- Inter Milan enjoy comfortable Serie A leadership

Milan won 2-1 at away against Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A, their fourth win in a row.
Lazio, playing their first match under the helm of Croatian coach Igor Tudor, beat Juventus 1-0 at home.

Atalanta, struggling to qualify for UEFA competitions, won 3-0 at away against defending champions Napoli. Napoli's players took a knee during the ceremony before the Atalanta match in protest against the alleged racism against their Brazilian teammate Juan Jesus.

Inter Milan, the leaders in Serie A with 76 points, will host Empoli on Monday in the last match of the week. In week 30, Inter was followed by Milan with 65 points and Juventus with 59 points.

- French Ligue 1 leaders PSG win with 10 men

In the so-called Le Classique (The Classic) of French Ligue 1, leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won 2-0 with goals of Vitinha and Goncalo Ramos against Olympique Marseille with 10 men as Lucas Beraldo was sent off with a red card in the 40th minute of the game.

Brest beat Lorient 1-0 at away and Lille beat Lens 2-1 at home.

In week 27, PSG continue to lead with 62 points, followed by Brest with 50, Monaco 49, Lille 46 and Nice 43 points.
