LONDON (AA) - A significant disruption is expected throughout this week in the British capital, as London underground train drivers went on strike over pay dispute and working condition.
The strike was called by Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union due to the dispute that has already affected commuters in London as of late Sunday.
Commuters will face significant disruption from Monday to Thursday as some 10,000 underground train drivers went on strike following the RMT's announcement.
Earlier, Transport for London (TfL) urged the union to revise its decision and warned that if the strikes go ahead, little to no Tube service would be expected during the week.
"We call on the RMT to suspend this action, put our fair and affordable offer to their members and continue discussions with us," the TfL said in a statement ahead of the strike action.
Meanwhile, London Overground services and national train services continue to operate without disruption.
It came after the RMT union have asked for a 32-hour week while the TfL has offered a 3.4% pay rise, but said a reduction in the contractual 35-hour week "is neither practical nor affordable."
