LONDON (AA) – Paris’ iconic Louvre Museum closed its doors to visitors on Sunday following a robbery, according to official statements.
French Culture Minister Rachida Dati said the closure came after a robbery took place earlier in the day when the museum opened.
“No injuries to report. I am on site alongside the museum teams and the police,” she wrote on the US social media company X.
Dati added that an investigation into the incident is underway.
The Louvre Museum also announced on X that it will remain closed Sunday “for exceptional reasons.”
