ANKARA (AA) - Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov on Monday paid a visit to Turkey’s state development aid agency.

Ivanov is in Ankara to attend the historic inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ivanov expressed his happiness at being in Turkey together with his wife and accompanying delegation and thanked the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for their good work in Macedonia.

“I would also like to thank TIKA for the contributions to thousands of Macedonian citizens who benefited from the contributions of healthcare workers, the farmers who benefited from agriculture projects, and the contributions to our historical and cultural heritage,” he added.

Erdogan’s inauguration today marks Turkey's transition to an executive presidential system of government.

In last month’s presidential election, Erdogan won an absolute majority with 52.5 percent of the vote, according to Turkey’s Supreme Election Council (YSK).
