Magnitude 4.2 quake hits Turkey's Mediterranean region

Quake struck off coast of Datca in southwestern province of Mugla, says Turkey’s disaster agency

ANKARA (AA). - A magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolted Turkey's Mediterranean region early Friday, according to the nation's disaster agency.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck off the coast of Datca district in Turkey’s southwestern province of Mugla at 1.33 a.m. local time (2233GMT).

The tremors occurred 8.5 kilometers (5.2 miles) below the surface.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.
