Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes NW Turkish province

No casualties or property damage reported, according to initial findings

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's northwestern Duzce province was hit by a magnitude 5.0 earthquake, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority reported on Wednesday.

The quake occurred at 3.40 p.m. local time (1240GMT) at a depth of 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) below the surface.

Duzce Governor Cevdet Atay said there have been no casualties or property damage according to the initial reports, while assistance units were dispatched to the area.
