Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts Australia

Authorities report no tsunami danger

ISTANBUL (AA) - A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck eastern Australia on Saturday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The quake hit at 9.49 am local time, with the epicenter near the Wrattens National Park, northwest of Brisbane.

Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology said that there is no tsunami threat to the country.

No immediate information was available about damage or injuries.
